What are the fees for B.Tech (UG Batch 2026–27)?

Step 1: JoSAA Fee Payment

During JoSAA counselling, candidates pay the Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF):

CategoryAmount
General / OBC-NCL / EWS₹75,000
SC / ST / PwD₹35,000

This amount is not an extra fee. It is adjusted against your NIT Jalandhar fee later.

If you retained your seat through JoSAA and participated in CSAB Special Rounds, you only pay the ₹5,000 CSAB participation fee. You do not have to pay another Seat Acceptance Fee.

Step 2: Institute Fee

The fee payable to NIT Jalandhar depends on your category and family income.

For a General / OBC-NCL / EWS student with family income above ₹5 lakh, the first semester institute fee for a hosteller is approximately ₹93,000.

Since ₹75,000 has already been paid during JoSAA, only the remaining amount needs to be paid during admission.

ParticularsAmount
First Semester Fee₹93,000
JoSAA SAF Adjusted-₹75,000
Balance Payable₹18,000

This balance is paid during online reporting, when you select your physical reporting date and complete the admission formalities.

Step 3: Hostel and Mess Charges

Hostel and mess charges are handled separately.

For the first semester, hostellers are required to pay:

ParticularsAmount
Mess Advance₹25,000
Mess Caution Money (Refundable)₹10,000
Other Charges₹500
Total₹35,500

The ₹10,000 caution money is refundable at the end of your stay, subject to hostel rules.

From the second semester onwards, students generally pay the semester fee along with the applicable mess charges.

Students eligible for tuition fee remission (such as SC/ST students or students falling under the prescribed income slabs) have a lower institute fee liability. In many cases, the amount already paid through JoSAA may exceed the academic fee payable.

However, hostel and mess charges are still payable separately if you choose hostel accommodation. These charges are not waived under the tuition fee remission scheme.

To claim any fee concession, you must submit valid supporting documents (Income Certificate, EWS Certificate, Caste Certificate, etc.) during admission. If the required documents are not produced, the institute may charge the full applicable fee.

Official Fee Documents:

The exact amount payable depends on your category, income slab, and whether you opt for hostel accommodation. The figures above are intended to explain the fee process and may change if the institute revises its fee structure.
